FAQ

You really want to know about me and/or my blog?

Like the sidebar says, my name is Denise. I’m a stay-at-home mom who is surrounded by males. I’m married to an incredible man and we’re raising four boys ranging in age from teenager to baby. Our two oldest boys school at home, so things are a bit hectic around here!

My hobbies include reading, digital scrapbooking, playing with my Nikon D40, and assorted crafts. If you read through the archives, you might notice I used to knit. That was before I had a toddler with a penchant for pulling my projects off the needles, which motivated me to take a knitting hiatus (but it’s still my first love!) My crafting is now limited to the quick and easy projects for the most part.

I’ve had some sort of presence on the Internets since 1995, way back when Geocities reigned supreme and everything was coded by hand. I established my personal blog, Wallflower Grown Wild, in 2004-ish (date approximate because I deleted the original content in a fit of pique at some point), but I’ve only recently decided to make blogging a priority rather than a whim.

Why do you blog?

As much as I love my kids and cherish the time I spend with them, I need some adult interaction, too. Blogging gives me a chance to use my brain and something to devote my creative energy to aside from sharing a coloring book with my toddler. I love writing and tinkering with WordPress code!

So, what kind of blog is this?

Lots of blogs have a niche nowadays, but I doubt this one would neatly fit into any of them. I suppose it’s part Mom Blog, part Craft Blog, and a dash of something else.

Why don’t you mention the older two boys as often as the younger ones?

The older two kiddos have a low profile on this blog because I try to restrict my embarrassing parental Internet antics to posting on their Facebook walls. The little ones are too young to take issue with my tales and photographs of them.

How can I get my picture to show up when I post a comment?

Get a Gravatar. It’s a globally recognized avatar that follows you from site to site.

I made one of your projects!

If you’ve been inspired by something I’ve posted, I’d love to see your handiwork. Please (pretty please!) post a follow up comment here or send me some photos so I can check it out. If you blog about it, please link back to me and give proper credit- it’s the nice thing to do!

Can I sell your tutorial on Etsy or elsewhere? What about using it to make things to sell?

My tutorials are provided for personal use only. Please do not repackage them for sale or use them to make items for resale. If anyone is going to make $$$ off of my ideas, it should be me…but I would rather have fun sharing them with you!

Can I copy and paste one (or more) of your posts on my site?

Content on this site may not be republished in its entirety without my permission. I’ve had someone scrape all of the content from one of my blogs and post it as their own. It made me very sad.

Can I use your images?

I’m fine with use of an image for illustrative purposes if you’re linking back to one of my posts. I’d really appreciate it if you would host the image on your own server instead of linking to mine; if I change things in the future, I don’t want to break your blog post.

Do you get any monetary compensation from this blog? How about swag?

I wish! It hasn’t happened yet, but that might change in the future. In case it does, here is my disclosure policy.

So you’re a sell-out?

Yup. Server space and domain registration and craft supplies aren’t free, ya know! And who doesn’t adore swag? I promise that any compensation wouldn’t sway my opinions, though. If I love something, I’ll tell you. If I hate it, same deal.

If I contact you or post a comment or whatnot, are you going to do nefarious things with my personal information?

Definitely not. I hate spam (both the electronic kind and the meat). Since you’re interested, here’s my privacy policy.

And you can always contact me if you have any further questions!
